Two-month journey
When he was two years old and the bottle had been bobbing around for two months, writes Norwegian newspaper Verdens Gang.
The letter, dated August 26, 1979, framed by Charles Malherbe mom and hung up in the living room. Since then, he wondered who the girl is Norwegian.
- We tried to answer, but the letter never arrived, "he says.
Malin Stenson, 42, is now married with two children. She threw the bottle from a tanker en route from Iraq to Europe. Her father was a seaman and had taken the family on the trip which passed Cape of Good Hope.
Had forgotten
- We had a big ceremony before I threw the bottle overboard. But I never heard anything and then I have not thought more about it, "she says.
Mr Malherbe have tried several ways to connect with Malin. A month ago, he made one last attempt with the help of Facebook. There he could talk.
"It has bothered me"
- Every time I saw the message on the wall, I asked Mom why Malin had not responded. It has bothered me a lot that I did not know who she was.
Now they finally meet. In October, Charles Malherbe traveling to Norway.
- It will be great to meet after so many years, "he says.
