"One small step for man, a great step for mankind."

Neil Armstrong's famous words from the moon marked the culmination of eight years of preparation, during which 400,000 people had been hard to realize a great dream.
The countdown to perhaps the greatest achievement of  human ever, had started in 1961, when President Kennedy promised that the United States before decade would finally land a man on the moon and bring him safely back to earth. When Apollo 11 landed in the Pacific in July 1969 was the promise fulfilled.
Apollo was a completely unique teamwork, in which an army of scientists, techniques  and not least the astronauts, who was prepared to sacrifice the life of the project, made it possible for humans to leave their home in the universe and conquer
a new ball - our neighbor to the moon.

Apollo 11 was the first manned mission to land on the Moon. The first steps by humans on another planetary body were taken by Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin on July 20, 1969. The astronauts also returned to Earth the first samples from another planetary body. Apollo 11 achieved its primary mission - to perform a manned lunar landing and return the mission safely to Earth - and paved the way for the Apollo lunar landing missions to follow.
