(Nix: A water spirit in Nordic mythology that are sitting all naked in small stream playing violin to lure people to the water for a certain death by drowning)
The Rummies Stockholm is an act that mixes folk music with punk rock. The influences comes from their own history and everything from The Clash to Pouges and No Use For A Name. Nothing is holy, everyone is honored. The Rummies Stockholm is pushing forward with distorted guitar, hard drums and a slender violin.
The band is sprung from Mansic and Hate Is Just A Feeling that always have had folkish elements. When Marc left the guitar fully for the violin they decided that a chapter was written and another one needed to be written. The Rummies Stockholm was born. Mansic / Hate Is Just A Feeling have released three albums and a vinyl EP and they have been touring Europe several times. The albums Everyday Is A Trafedy and Beutygone have been played on radio stations in both Europe and in the US.
It all began in 1999 in Norrtälje, outside Stockholm, Sweden where Nick and Mick decided to get started with a band. Nick and Micke found a hardcore drummer and a garage, got a hold of some quite cheap instruments and named the band Dace, a name they only used live one time playing for a friend. After a very short time they changed name to [sic] and the band got a tour in Poland and a few gigs in Holland. Not long before the tour in Poland Marc started to play guitar in the band and Nick left the guitar in advance for a role as crazy lead vocalist with the freedom to jump around stage like crazy. And he did.
The interest in [sic] where growing but the band members we here not all interested in the new offers from the Baltic states on another two weeks tour. Nick jumped the band and started Mansic together with Marc and Clabbe. Mick joined after a while but the band had a few European tours and a DIY release called “Punkrock Paperdoll” in their rucksack. When Mick came back Jocke had started as a drummer and the most complete line up of Mansic was a fact. The band went through Europe with Stroh (Spain), The Fux (USA), Ginos Eyeball (Belgium) and more in cities like Warsaw, Dresden, Hamburg, Brno, Libiate, Rennes, Leipzig, Slupsk, Ullastrell, Terrsassa, Schijndel and more. They released the album "Every day is a Tragedy" and "Beuatygone" that were played on radio stations all over Europe and in The USA.
After some troubles in the band they tried to ignite the spirit of rock 'n' roll as they changed Nane to Hate Is Just A Feeling, HIJAF. HIJAF released the album "The Road To Kingdom Come" on the Portuguese label "Infected Records" and the vinyl EP "Land Of Glory" on "Vine Hell Records" in the USA. The band didn't live long. The lead guitarist Clabbe left for other interests and the focus on folk music got stronger. Mick suggested "The Rummies" on a train trip from the rehearsals and so a new era was born.
On stage The Rummies Stockholm goes on like it was only half an hour until the city goes under. It goes like hell and it is party. Nick is sweating, yelling, singing, hissing and whispering. Rats are beating rapidly and hard and tight and Marc adorns the whole elegant with his violin. During all the turmoil Mick stands firm, seemingly unmoved, and enjoys that fact that the bass is the bedplate for the tight and hard tunes that is raging from stage to run over as many as possible.
The members have their history in the 80’s punk scene and bands like Sighstens Grannar and the folkrockers Två Fisk & En Fläsk. Both Marc and Rats have earlier played together with Nizze in Nepente and De Osaligas Kapell. Mick and Nick had their first band together in Norrtälje, outside Stockholm. They are bringing all these musical trips and slips together with Rats and Marcs solo projects into the band.
